Joan Saló originally hails from the town of Igualada outside Barcelona. In 2001 he moved to Barcelona to study Fine Arts, moving on from there to study further in both Seville and Bologna. His work began, following this stage in his career, to develop a more pictorial feel. In 2008, his work continued down the same path of development as he took inspiration from the surrounding of the Irish city of Galway. 

His recent work, however, centers in the aspects of fleeting time and the structures of abstract meaning. Joan currently lives and works between Barcelona and Berlín.
