From the left corner… it’s a heavyweight thesis! Weighing 660 grams while standing only 16 cm tall, this publication is handsewn bound on a flexible material covered in dark blue eco buckram. The title is silkscreened in white on top, unlike the rest of the editorial design that is printed in a hue similar to that of the cover.
In his thesis, Robert Glas deals with the notion of the elegance and beauty of ideas in conceptual art, citing artists such as Santiago Sierra and Sol LeWitt. For the design, we wanted to emphasize the underexposed beauty of the material by providing choices in terms of i.a. size, weight and movement, to enhance the book as a physical object.
Robert Glas is a photographer and artist. In 2012 he graduated cum laude at the Utrecht School of Arts.
