A Creative Pool project by Sue-Shan (Singapore)

Hello,

I'm not an artist per se but I have curated a space for other creative professionals (specifically practitioners with no formal art training but trained in other disciplines such as fashion, architecture or even law) to showcase personal works i.e. outside of their usual client-based projects. It's experimental and a platform in which I hope these designers/professionals get to further explore another side of their creativity, as it is not only healthy but a common perception that any creative person or person for that matter, should get out of their usual routine of working/making things for others to reflect on their own identity and purpose, whilst allowing the general public to discover art "by accident", hence the idea of combining art in a food & beverage space. The space also wants to challenge the notion of what art is and how one should define art i.e. is real art only the ones that appear in galleries and museums? should real art be the works in progress rather than the final product?

I've named the exhibition Sketchbook because it's also a reflection of life and how we're always sketching/planning what to do and how to do something for someone. Like life, a creative process is a journey.

Our first exhibition features a locally trained fashion designer who loves illustrating and would like to pursue fashion illustration as part of his expanding portfolio as a fashion designer but unfortunately feels this stagnated by the lack of local industry and understanding. I've attached a photo of a section of the exhibition, and here's an interview with him: http://sprmrktblogs.wordpress.com/category/art/
